"A Time of Celebration"
Have you made all of your plans for Christmas Eve? If not, be sure to
attend one of our two special Services on that day. Our Family &
Children's Service will be held at 5 p.m. It features puppets, carols,
children's choirs, and other features more "accessible" to children and
their parents. Our Adult and Teen service will be held at 10 p.m. It
features candlelight, choirs, and musical ensembles that are more
meaningful to their age and stage of life. Some families may wish to
come for both services, but it is almost impossible to find good child
care for the second one. Thus, the infant and toddler room will be
staffed at the 5 p.m. service only.
Meanwhile, be sure to join us for worship this Sunday morning as we
look into the various names of Christ, especially that famous phrase,
"wonderful counselor, mighty God, everlasting father, prince of peace"
(Isaiah 9:6). Each of these words says something very different about
our savior--each names a different role--and each role can be a
blessing in different seasons of our lives. If you're having a bit of
trouble getting "into" the Christmas Spirit (or, for that matter, the
Christian Faith), perhaps you need to meet Christ in a different role.
I'll talk about ways to do that in this coming week.
Finally, if you don't have plans for New Year's Eve, come to the church
for a family and singles game night at 8 p.m. Adults and kids can stay
and play until midnight, but only teens and chaperons stay after that.
They'll have a lock-in till 9 a.m. on New Year's Day. Please bring your
favorite game and snack. Teenagers will also need a signed permission
slip from one parent and $5 to spend the night.
This is such a joyous time of year. It may be cold outside, but we are
having fun! So, don't stay home alone. Join us for Christ's Birthday
Bash!

3. . . 2 . . .1 HAPPY - NEW - YEAR!!! Join us at First Presbyterian as we hold our first ever Family New Year's Celebration. The fun begins at 8:00 pm and continues to the start of 2009! There will be board games, music, snacks, drinks and a desert pot-luck. Everyone in the church is invited and encouraged to bring a desert. Let's start the new year TOGETHER!
The fun continues after 12 for the youth when we bid them good morning and lock them in the church! They will soar through the wee hours with video games, music, games, and conversation. Pick up will be at 9 am.
