The Messenger - August 20th
Pastor's Corner 8-19-08
This Sunday, Kim and I will
be traveling to Alabama to visit with Kim's mother, Sue Franklin, who
is fighting a recurrent and persistent cancer. We appreciate your
prayers for Sue during the last several months, and especially for
our time together. She is very weak now, and we want to make the
most of the moments that we have.
While we are away, my
friend, Leanardo Wilborn, will preach upon the wonderful story of
Joseph in Genesis 45. He preached for me about a year ago, and
several of you enjoyed it, so I hope you'll make a point to hear him
preach again this Sunday, August 24. You'll also get to hear a
classic from our very own "Men's Quartet."
Meanwhile, Kim and I will
look forward to seeing you the following Sunday (August 31),
when I will preach upon one of my favorite texts for this time of
year. I've wanted to preach it for years, but I never got around to
it. Now, I have a chance. The text is 2 Timothy 4:9-28. The Title
is "Come Before Winter." I hope you'll come and hear it.

WOMENS' BIBLE STUDY RESUMES
ARE YOU
CURIOUS ABOUT THE BIBLE?
DO YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE BUT DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START?
Then join the Womens' Bible Study led by Kim Neuenschwander. We will begin meeting in September with two identical studies each week for your convenience. Just choose either Mondays at 7:00 pm or Wednesdays at 1:00 pm in the McCormick Room (otherwise known as the fireside room, across from the sanctuary where coffee is served on Sunday mornings).
We will start by studying Colossians, one of Paul's upbeat letters to the church at Colosse. Come prepared by reading the book of Colossians (only 4 chapters long). Then we will move on to Ephesians and Philippians.
The study
is open to ALL, from beginning to advanced seekers interested in
knowing God better and knowing what He says in his BOOK!
