    "Music Is In The Air"

Wasn't that a fabulous children's program we enjoyed in church last week? Kira Iwai served as our guide on a "safari" through several animal stories in the Bible. Along the way, we got to see some fearsome "lions" surrounding innocent young Daniel (Brianna Corallo) after mean old King Darius (Justin Norton) threw him in a den. We also saw a several "apes", "elephants", "insects" and other charming creatures from "Noah's ark." We heard Sam Mantz and Nina Salas "monkey around" with the safari crew. And we watched one cast member's "dad" (Isaiah Aly) learn to trust God not only in the forest but also in the world beyond it. Time does not allow me to mention every member of this great cast, be we certainly want to thank Lesley Sirianni for her tireless work with King's Chorus and Gospel Gang. We also need to thank Emily Anderson and the parents of her Cherubs Choir who dedicated many hours to make some adorable children's costumes for this event.

If you didn't make last week's performance, perhaps you were able to see the "Sonlight Singers Superb Salad Show" in MacDonald Hall on June 1. The good news is that every seat was full. The bad new is that we had to turn folks away! Those who did attend learned that "God is in Control" through a number of clever skits involving TV channel "surfers" (Peter Hynes), preachers (Kevin Wade), "mannequins" (Natalie DeLossa and Betsy Mantz), "warriors" (Kenneth Beck), newspaper readers (Rhiannon Franck-Thompson and Danielle Calderon), and even a human "bridge" (Brian Tapie). Again, time does not allow me to mention all the cast, be we certainly want to extend another round of thanks to Lesley Sirianni and her team (including several adult musicians and salad chefs who devoted many hours of time and talent for free).

If you didn't make either performance, you still have one more chance to hear the combined choirs of First Presbyterian Church. That's because Father's Day (June 15) is also Music Celebration Sunday. This very special service will feature music by all seven choirs of our church --including the hand bells! This music well celebrate both God's work in nature and God's grace revealed to us in Jesus Christ. And talk about contrasts! You'll hear gospel, reggae, chants, hymn arrangements, and everything in between! So, bring your dad (or some other dads you know) to celebrate with us this Sunday, June 15.

Yours in Christ,

Neal
